What You Can Do
Together we can create a North Carolina where adults and children of all ages and abilities eat smart and move more. It will take all of us working toward the common good to achieve a healthier more productive North Carolina.
Here are things you can do to make eating smart and moving more possible wherever you live, learn, earn, play and pray.
- Get your produce from community gardens and farmers markets
- Ask for quality, daily physical activity and physical education in your child’s school
- Ask your child’s school or daycare to serve water or low fat milk instead of sugar-sweetened beverages
- Use walking trails and exercise facilities in your area
- Ask your city or town for new bike paths, sidewalks, and accessible walking trails or parks
- Ask your workplace, community and place of worship to be breastfeeding friendly
- Ask for or make healthy options available where food and beverages are served at your workplace or place of worship
- Champion for physical activity in your place of worship
